I'm still waiting on word on how much shipping is going to be for it.  Meh, who am I kidding, I'll probably get it regardless.  Though, it's rather annoying playing the game lately, my laptop has a tendency to overheat after playing for a short while (45-60 min?).  Framerate drops to nonexistant.  Even with a separate cooling pad/fan underneath the laptop, it still doesnt help.  Even World of Warcraft didn't make the computer get this hot (though it did get hot and suffer framerate issues afterwards), nor did Oath in Felghana (as long as I was using the fan).  I have to alt-tab out for a few minutes while it cools off...  I can't play it on the household desktop, as the DVD drive stopped working, and all it has to use is a CD-RW drive. =/  Ah well, still managed to beat Hugo's story at least, working on Yunica's slowly but surely.

Got Geico here too.  Switched a WHILE ago, they were much cheaper than the old provider.

Heh, your little rant there seems *very* inspired by Sam Kinison.  It's just missing YOU FUCKING WHORE!  WHOOOOOOOORRRE!  OH OH OOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I'm pretty sure I've heard him deliver that line, "the power of christ compels you" in his well-known screaming voice, but I couldn't seem to find a clip of it.  I can hear it so clearly in my head too...

Hey!  It's BlackPearl!  I recognized him as soon as he started spouting off his age and that he plays football.  Wow, he's still pissing and moaning around?  How long does that make it now?  September 2006 at the very least, since that was when the tirade and temper tantrum happened over here.  And he thought he'd bribe Seldane with your leaked beta patch?  Yeahhhhhhh...

6
Heh, I just got a new computer, just reinstalled Oath in Felghana, and installed my legitimately acquired beta patch, and it cussed me out.  =P

Oh, and as a quick note, apparently, the link in the patcher for the latest patch for Felghana is broken.

And the game so far seems to run fine on Vista, patcher as well.  AppLocale doesn't install normally on Vista however, and hasn't been updated for Vista, but there's a workaround to install it, although it refused to work with the installer.  The game installed fine without it however, though not sure if that's because the problems were only with Ys I + II or if something in Vista took care of that little problem.  Guess I'll find out when I reinstall Ys I + II. =P

Lodoss War was my first exposure to anime as well...  I think...  It was so long ago.

One of my friend's dad from back then was into anime, and I remember seeing a few anime from back then...  I only can remember a few, and one was Lodoss War, though it was only the first episode, and I'm not sure if it was subtitled or not - it might have just been entirely japanese, with neither a sub nor a dub.  But, Lodoss War stuck in my mind, just from that episode, and later on, I eventually tracked it down.

Hmm, I do remember something from Macross, though I wouldn't be able to tell you anything about it.  Hmm, the only other one I can remember was Bubblegum Crisis, and again, I remember nothing about the anime itself, what it was about, whether it was a dub/sub, if at all, nada.

That's all that I can remember at least, though there *may* have been more.  Other than that, the other early exposure to anime was when Sci-Fi channel used to show occasionally Vampire Hunter D, Lensman, and Robot Carnival.

Overall, I've not seen all that much anime.  Something that gets shown occasionally on TV, but not very often.  I own a little bit, but not a whole lot.  The aforementioned Lodoss War, Trigun (from probably at least a year before Cartoon Network aired it, I forget what exactly got me to buy Trigin though.), the second Vampire Hunter D movie, and a few episodes from a couple other anime.  I don't generally watch or buy much.  A friend of mine was/is really into anime though, he used to have a ton of the stuff.  Or used to rent a ton of the stuff.  Whichever.

Then even, even the ones who pirate still call you the guy who knows japanese, even WITH the credits on the title screen.  Makes me wonder why they even bother with the patch then, if they're not going to read anything anyway. =P

I think that the screen is just saying that the continuation of the story is in Ys I and II.  Sort of like at the end of Lufia 2 - it says "To be continued in Lufia 1" or something like that.

As for them making many new games with the same engine - I'd have no trouble with it, as long as they add/change a bit each time, like they've been doing.  You had Napishtim with the three upgradable swords with their own magic in each, Felghana with the three magic bracelets, and all equipment upgradable, though not as much as Napishtim's swords, and a just more streamlined experience (no storable healing items, healing from enemy drops, the stat-boost potions/hit combos for xp), and Origin's multiple viewpoints, and Hugo's different play mechanics.

I'd still like to see them adding some new mechanics if they'll still be using the same engine.  Well, at least, if they're going to be using it for a while.  A couple new games without some massive changes will still be really fun.  Just, I can forsee it starting to get old after a while without a bit more variety.

One thing I enjoyed in Napishtim that the other two games dropped was that there was just more stuff hidden around in general.  With the much higher number of accessories, and the ability to gain more slots to equip accessories, it added a little bit more to the game.  Especially since the accessories then became actually useful a bit, instead of being mostly used for progression purposes.  The majority of the accessories from Felghana and Origin, like the Firedragon's Amulet, the Nightfire Gem, the non-sliding boots, Mask of Eyes, Blue Talisman, Silver Bell, are all mostly used for progressing further, rather than normal use.  Generally the only ones you'd use otherwise are the Spirit Cape (which I generally forget about anyway, unless I'm very low on health and am not getting any healing item drops), and the resurrection item, which you generally save for the last boss anyway.  Now, the third character for Origin has some other accessories that are a bit more useful - stat boosts, but the other two really only have 2 useful accessories, and one of them is a one-shot only deal.  Now, Oath in Felghana had at least two of them useful in more than one spot - the Nightfire Gem revealed the falling floors in Valestine Castle, and the Stone Shoes were useful on slippery floors in Valestine, and the ooze a certain monster leaves behind in the Clock Tower.

Mostly though, it just gave more stuff to find scattered around, which at least gives you some satisfaction to finding the stuff.  (You have to admit, it's satisfying to open a chest and hear the 'Get Item' melody.) :)  Also gives the developers more opportunity to gives areas a bit more variety to explore, in the dungeons and the outdoors areas with a possibly useful item at the end.  Some little hidden mini-dungeon type area with an accessory inside.  Whatever.  Though,  they'd have to figure out a different way to give more accessory slots than a treasure chest that when opened says "You found an accessory slot" or whatever similar message you got.

That sure turned from typing a quick response to a lot of rambling.  =P

Radical Dreamers was a trip, that's for sure.  After you finish the first scenario, some of the alternate scenarios are quite... out there.

And Varion, you reminded me of another annoyance - besides honorifics, the untranslated japanese tidbits.  I do NOT want to have to look up the meaning of every tenth word.  Umm, I don't even remember what it was exactly, but there were a number of words that weren't translated.  I don't know what most of them meant, and I didn't care to look it up.

If I'm going to read or watch something, I'd rather it be fully translated.

I'm not really into anime or manga that much, so I don't get bombarded with it much at all.  Just occasionally on the web.  If I watch anything at all, it's generally something at a friend's recommendation, or something that seemed interesting that I saw somewhere.  Which, again, isn't very often.

Hmm, the closest I can say I've played to a visual novel would probably be the Phoenix Wright DS games, Radical Dreamers on SNES, or Famicom Detective Club also translated on SNES.

I do read a lot, so I'd probably be interested, but I've never actually sought any visual novels out.  Depends on the quality of the story, if it's sounds interesting, and how the translation (localization!) is handled...  I find just from browsing around the internet, usage of -kun, -san, -chan and so on really gets annoying.  Besides being unnecessary, it seems that it makes something not flow as nicely, and more difficult to read.

I have a tendency to avoid things that use those excessively.

I'm sure there's something I'd like somewhere, if I'd bother to actually look.  =P

I think it was staged - Letterman most definitely knew about it, no suprise at all, and then the band kicks in too, but I think it was a genuine suprise for Richard Simmons.  You can hear him asking why he's there, since Letterman hasn't really shown any interest in his steamer, and then going "Oh, that's why" after it starts smoking.

And here's some other videos now:Entire episode of Whose Line is it Anyway, featuring Richard Simmons:Add some randomness:  Rayman Raving Rabbits:

Ys Origin / Re: Patch for the Ys Origin Setup/Config Utility
« on: Feb. 09, 2007, 01:05:35 PM »
Slightly back to the original topic - would anyone happen to know which settings are the best to reduce to improve performance? I played around a little bit with them, but what I had changed didn't seem to really make a signifigant difference.

The game runs mostly fine - some slight choppyness, barely noticable, for normal play - but I noticed some issues definitely while fighting the first 'big' boss.  Again, it wasn't so bad most of the time, but when he did that big arm swipe, there was a bit of frameskip, making it rather difficult to dodge that attack.  Also, it seemed to get worse when I used Boost during that fight.

Another boss also seemed to cause some minor issues when he turned into his swarm of bats.  Playable, but irritating.

I've not really kept up with most PC gaming as much lately and I just don't know what some of the options even DO anymore.

17
I've noticed a definitive lack of save points in dungeons, and it has made me very paranoid. :/

Pretty much all the dungeon save points (save for one, I believe) are right before a boss.  It makes it a bit tricky at the beginning, but if you've gotten the "Wings" item, make sure to use that for a quick escape if you need to.  A much better alternative than dying.

18
I haven't seen any options to disable the mouse.  I'm wondering if it isn't the mouse settings on your own computer.

Maybe the "Snap To" setting, or pointer trails?

I dunno, it doesn't seem like there should be any reason for it to be doing that.

Ys: The Oath In Felghana / Phew, just finished patch on Hard.
« on: Jan. 05, 2007, 04:32:25 AM »
Phew, just finished the game with the patch on Hard.  Last boss was kicking my ass.  I seriously do not remember him shooting those balls up at you when you are trying to float up to shoot his head.  So many times I would do good, just to have him do the shooting ball attack five times in a row, or not put his hands where you can hit them, and you end up trying to dodge lasers, gouts of flame, and balls of death, doom, and destruction.

I manage to get to the third phase of the battle, doing real good, with about 240 HP left, and I get cheated, and somehow get sucked into the vortex thing.  Which took me down to 30 HP.  Yeah, I am just not *that* good at dodging the other attack at that phase, 30 HP is NOT enough to survive the rest of the way.

Finally managed to take him down though, with 10 HP remaining.

So, then I go ahead and just try the normal version on Boss Rush.  A *lot* easier than I remember.  Took down the normal difficulty version without even using the spirit necklace.  Must have really picked up some extra skill through the hard mode runthrough, although "C-2" still gives me trouble, even on the normal bossrush.  (Probably because I was a higher level at that point in the actual game, than the game gives you for the boss rush.  I'm just NOT good at that guy.)

Game was just as much fun as the first time I played it, and I was suprised that I didn't have more trouble overall with the bosses, considering how much trouble I had on normal.  Perhaps due to knowing the bosses this time around even though the last playthrough was a while ago, or just the extra skill acquired by having to actually dodge the attacks of the regular enemies this time around. =P  Seriously, I was expecting to have a lot more trouble than I did with some of the bosses, although some of the ones I beat quickly on Normal, gave me a lot of trouble on Hard.  (Both bosses in the Lava Zone gave me some trouble, though that second one I always hated.  First boss in the mountains gave me a lot more trouble this time around as well.)  Others, I beat through sheer luck, getting that final hit in right before I died.   Definitely a more intense experience this time around though.

I highly doubt I'll play through the game on Nightmare.  I don't think I'd be able to do it without grinding a lot.  Too bad I'll miss out on those 'hidden' bosses though. =/

I'll just say great job on everything.  It was a total blast to play, and it was nice to play the game in English this time, and actually understand what was going on.  =P  It's interesting seeing how they changed the game from the original Ys III.

Ys: The Oath In Felghana / Re: YsF Script Proofreading
« on: Jan. 05, 2007, 04:08:05 AM »
Just finished the game myself.  I do remember one incidence of 'weild' which should be wield.

I don't remember too much else in the way of typos.

There was one instance of the text seeming to get cut off and not wrapping to the next line.  Ugh, I forgot to take a picture, as I had already went to the next line, and I can no longer remember WHEN it was.

During the ending, while you can talk to the townspeople, in Edgar's house, talking to the count a couple of times, results in the Lady saying some things except the text speeds right by, and then closes, not giving you a chance to read it.  It's the same text she says normally though.

Hmm, I think there was another issue in the monster manual...  Double-checking quick...  Halvaiger - has the word 'nible' which should probably read 'nimble'  and positition, which would probably be position.

Only other issue I have, is that the font seems hard to read at times in the 'Topics' section.  I like the font itself, just the coloring seems a bit off.  *shrug*

Growlanser Generations...  I got that when it first came out.  I've still only played Growlanser 2.  I enjoyed it a lot, definitely pretty challenging at parts.  Not overly long, and I meant to replay it to get some more of the character endings (with a guide, so I can get as many as possible on a single playthrough), and try for the alternate story-branch, but got distracted by other games, and ended up being really busy for a while, and just never got back to it.  I've not even touched Growlanser 3 at all.

It's definitely different from your standard SRPG.  It's definitely a bit refreshing, especially since you have some variety in the battle objectives, over 'Kill all the enemies' or 'Kill the boss'.

*sigh*  I just have too many games to play, and not enough time.  I can't even remember all of them off the top of my head.

Lets see, right now, I'm working on Twilight Princess (Gamecube version, three dungeons finished), Ys: Origin (at first BIG boss), Ys: Oath in Felghana (Working through Abandoned Mines, on Hard, had to make a couple quick escapes), Final Fantasy XII (which was starting to lose my interest, hope the story picks up sometime soon, currently at Henne Mines, probably on hold until I'm done with Zelda, which looks to be a while), Shadow Hearts 3 (Not sure where I'm at, not too far, but got distracted by Suikoden V, which I had to play right away), Okami (actually very far into the game, I think FF12 came out around that time, and again, got sidetracked), Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, Grandia III, Tales of Legendia, Tales of the Abyss, Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne, Atelier Iris 2, all of which I haven't even STARTED yet, not to mention some older games that I've started and never finished, such as, Dark Cloud 2, Phantom Brave, and probably a couple others, including even a DS game or two, and a few translated ROMs that I haven't touched yet, that have been released that I've been waiting for.  AND other games that I'm interested in, but haven't bothered buying, since I know I'll never get to them, and that I know are fairly readily available.  The ones I know I won't be able to find in a few months, I try to pick up when I can.  Makes me so glad I got Suikoden II when that first came out, what with the insane prices it now fetches on eBay.  I'm definitely picking up the second Phoenix Wright game when that hits in a couple weeks.

Oh, and don't even get me started on the games that I feel like giving another run-through to, even though I'll never get to it.

Whatever happened to the times when there were not enough games to fill your free time?  Now there's too many games to play, and not enough free time.  At the rate I'm playing games lately, it'll take me over a year just to play what I have, let alone any new stuff that catches my eye.

And not to mention I have 5-10 big books (or more!) here that I'm working my way through.  I'm not even sure how many are in my queue right now, just that I need to get another bookcase, since I'm out of room for books. =P

My backlog is quite immense.  And it just keeps getting bigger.

Ok, I'm all typed out.  I'll end the rambling, and complaining, and whatever.

Ys Origin / Re: Ys Origin
« on: Dec. 01, 2006, 11:40:04 PM »
Starting to really look forward to this.  I'll guess that there will be at least one more extra playable character, since they're not going to want to reveal all the secrets beforehand.  I remember seeing a screenshot of the character select screen, and it looks like there is room for at least four characters on that screen.  Though, the shot was from before they announced the third character.  But, in the screenshot, they showed the selections for the two characters near the top of the screen, with a lot of empty space on the bottom half, which would just be bad design, unless you're going to have extra characters show up in that space.  If you weren't, I think it'd be better to either center the character selection boxes, or make them bigger, and put extra information in them.

Them announced a third character available after playing the first two, just increases my suspicions that we'll see at least one more playable character yet.  Who knows, maybe even an ancestor of Adol?  *shrug*

<EDIT>
Here's the screenshot of the character select screen:  http://www.falcom.com/yso/system/01/img02e.gif

Definitely room for two more characters on there, one of which being 'The Claw', after you unlock him.  What do you think?
<END EDIT>

I took the plunge and ordered the game yesterday.  Already got a response and confirmed the order.  Even if I can't understand the game, I'm sure it'll be great fun, like the rest.

I played through both games on Normal for starters.

The boss that was the most irritating for me was the bat boss, from Ys 1 (Vaguillon, or something like that, wasn't it?)  Eventually, I got a good feel for the fight though and can beat it without too much trouble.  Just, it's definitely the longest boss fight, since it all depends on how quickly he'll transform.  Also makes it suck for boss rush mode, if you are trying to get a quick time, since it's all luck with that guy...

I actually thought Dark Fact was pretty easy, once I figured out that the Silver equipment works much better on him than the 'best' equipment.

Darm I thought was pretty easy, if you use your 'Shield' magic, like they give you on boss rush.  But again, I played through the game on Normal.  I'll probably give it a go at a higher difficulty sometime.

Oath in Felghana's bosses were pretty tough overall, with some being pushovers.  But, overall, harder.  I couldn't actually beat the boss rush for Normal, there were two bosses that were just giving me too hard a time.  I think I was a level higher than they give you on the boss rush, since I definitely remember dealing more damage than that...  After spending almost two hours on the boss rush mode, I was getting rather tired, and just gave up.  =/

Ys: The Oath In Felghana / Re: Ys: The Oath in Felghana Translation
« on: Sep. 11, 2006, 02:04:27 PM »

I don't think I've said this, but THIS game is a real masterpiece from start to finish. I've not been impressed with a video game in a long time till now. I've never seen an action/RPG game like this to be honest, just perfect, in every aspect. Plus, I wasn't much of a PC-gaming guy. I've only dabbled with PC games and a lot of that has to do with Falcom. But yeah, I mean, it IS breathtaking. It's a pure rockin' action fest. The music is as amazing as the graphics. When I think of the early years, with Ys Book I & II, where you had the best soundtrack ever, but 8-bit graphics and compare them to now, with this game here, where BOTH the soundtrack AND graphics are as equally awesome, it astonishes the mind! From challenging action-packed bosses, to a well-done and executed plot, it has everything!

This really will be Psycho DeuceBag and mine's most impressive English patch ever released. You'll never know all the events behind the scenes that led to this, how we slowly advanced and matured in our craft over time, the lost sleep, the frustration, the setbacks, the pride in seeing it all work and come together, etc.  It really is something else. Now assuming you haven't ruined the experience by having played it already and beaten it, the first time you play it patched, you will orgasm! Satisfaction guaranteed! ;) It really was such an amazing privilege to get to play it in English first for me, to say the least. I don't often stop and truly appreciate that fact since I'm always keeping myself busy. Anyway, enough unrestrained giddiness on display here on my part. Heh.

I have to agree on the sheer awesomeness of Oath in Felghana.  =)  Having played through it, although in Japanese, I had a great time playing through the game.
Playing it through on Normal, I still had problems with a few bosses, while others were pretty easy.  Not to mention a few times where I deperately warped out with the Wing to avoid dying horribly (mostly from rough spots in the final dungeon, and a time or two in Valestine Castle and Elderm Mountains).  I can always tell when I've finished a genuinely great game, when I try playing other games, and it's just that much harder to actually play them, because they just don't measure up.  And the fact that I'd rather be playing Oath in Felghana again. =P

Gonna try the game in Hard after the translation is released...  I forsee me repeating boss battles a LOT.  Even though I beat the game on Normal, Boss Rush on Normal was kicking my ass.  Not all the bosses, but for some bosses, I guess I was more powerful than what they give you in Boss Rush (as opposed to Ys VI where it seemed you were generally more powerful), because some just seem a lot more difficult.  And then there's the early bosses, where you are so used to using the other abilities you get later on, you mess up because you can't do them anymore. =P

In particular there were about 3 or 4 that really gave me a lot of trouble...  Eventually, I just gave up, since I just could NOT beat (avoiding spoilers) a certain boss you fight twice.  But, not the OTHER boss you fight twice, with the clones.  The one before that. =P  I need to take time to get the patterns and stuff down, but I was getting rather frustrated by that point.

It was also nice to have a game that actually had a challenging final boss as well.  Though, I definitely do a lot better on that guy now, usually getting past the first phase without getting hit.  And having seen videos of people taking him down, realizing I was making it more difficult on myself, and seeing a few other missed opportunities for damage.

I'm really looking forward to the release, and being able to understand the game this time.  I know I missed at least two sidequests, perhaps more.  It'll also be interesting to see exactly how the story has been improved over the original Ys III.  I recognized some of the big changes, but of course, with japanese dialogue, I can only get minimal understanding out of it.

anything around christmass is great! :)

the ONLY one i have yet to find completed somewhere (if ANYONE knows where i'd be MOST gratefull) is 7th saga 2 (ie : Mystik Ark)...

(Going a little OT here)

Now, it's not finished yet, but someone is working on it, and it is pending a release, eventually.  Last I heard, the script was translated by Ian Kelley, but reinsertion of the text is looking to be rather nasty, says Gideon Zhi.  agtp.romhack.net

Scroll down in the news until you reach the update on it.  It'll come eventually, just give it time though.  Gideon has a TON of patches released already, and has a rather large amount of games he's working on.  But, he's pretty dependable, considering the time he's been around, and the sheer amount of patches released.

Well, it's good Ranzor has a save for the Tarf spot, since it seems I don't.  I think I have one somewhere nearby, before you rescue Tarf, but not one during the rescue.  Suprised I didn't keep one, after I levelled Tarf up to 25 as well. =P

If you still need a save, I can just work through one of the close saves to the spot.   Wouldn't take very long.

Well, back to beating monsters up in Felghana.  =P

I actually noticed those two parts where the untranslated text showed, but I forgot about it by the time I finished the game.

I have an idea about your gamepad - myself, I have an adapter to use my PS2 controller for my PS2 - it worked great, for the most part - but I was using it for a while before then.  I got a new one - since my old one was starting to mess up - more and more frequently it wouldn't work (problem with the adapter - bending the cord for the adapter in various ways would get it working again)

Well - I got a new one - and I experienced the same problems you mentioned.  Can't move right in the menus, etc...  I didn't mess around with moving around too much, since I knew something was wrong off the bat with the menus.

Back to topic on hand - Simple solution - you probably just need to calibrate the controller.  Just go to the control panel - pick Game Controllers, you should be able to calibrate from there.  I did that after getting the new adapter, and now it works perfect, just like it was before.

As for the transparency not working in some areas, I just assumed it wasn't meant to work in all spots, just because it'll work behind some objects, but not others.

Also finished up Ys II last night.  Err, more like very early this morning.  Even better than the first game. =)

I still need to go around and burn everyone and give gifts to them to see all the text however.

Ys I & II Complete / Ys I Complete - Complete (err, huh? =P )

Heh, it's been quite a while since I had a single gaming session last this long -played through all of Ys I today.  Err, well, you could consider it 2 days, since it's after midnight now, but my days are messed up as it is from my job, so it's a single day for me.  =P

Had a blast with it.  Your patch is an excellent job - other than the few times where the game states -Fan Translation- you can't even tell.  I thought everything was very well done, better than a lot of professional, commercial works.

Heh, the last boss actually wasn't that hard - after figuring out the trick.  Was able to get him the second try after figuring that out...  =P

Most annoying boss award goes to Vagullion, the bat creature thing.  Also the one that makes getting a good time attack time rather random - sometimes it just does not want to transform.

Well, was just posting mostly to post my comments, and that I had a blast playing it.

*shrug*  He says that the patch is on a separate disc.

In other news - HOLY CRAP that was fast.  I just got my package today.  Wasn't even expecting it, considering the distance, them saying they were sending it out the 23rd, and nevermind that there are usually no deliveries on Sundays.  I haven't opened it yet, having just got home from work.

The customs slip has it marked as a gift, to avoid import taxes I assume.

Opening it up, wow the Oath in Felghana box is bigger than I expected.   Very nice looking.  Hmm, there's something else here that was in the outer plain cardboard box for Oath in Felghana, but not in the actual fancy box.  Err, I'm not exactly sure what it's supposed to be.  It looks like a stand-up piece of artwork thing - with the games logo, similar artwork to the box, and the game's tagline -

In my time, I've wandered everywhere
Around this world, Hope would always be there

Looking at Ys I-II Complete - packaging is nice, manual is nice - although I can't read a word of it. =P    Oath in Felghana manual is even nicer - some nice artwork inside.  And then here's the music box, with all eight discs in there.  Pre-arrange version, music from Ys III, Perfect Collection Ys III 1, and 2, Symphonic Poem, Super Arrange Version, JDK Special, and Best Selection.

OK, for now, I'll get started on getting Ys I+II set up.

Edit:  OK, both games installed OK - just Ys II won't patch - because it's the newer version that a patch hasn't been released for just yet.

Edit Edit:  Oath in Felghana installed OK as well, and it runs good so far.  I'm all set now.  Whee! =P

I'm sure I will, thanks. =)

I had a longer post written, but then I realized that most of what I said was repeating my first post. =P

I got a confirmation email from Falcom now - they said they're sending it out on the 23rd, but who knows when it'll actually get here.  Shipping was a bit pricier than I expected, but it IS coming from Japan, and besides that, for all I know, they're sending it express, or something like that. =P

Heh, the miser in me is cringing at the cost, but it'll be worth it.  I have the spare cash at this point.  16,620 yen in all, (approx. $144.60, doing a quick web search for currency conversion.)   It's actually probably a lot cheaper than it would be by other means.   For Playasia, $109.90 for Felghana + $24.20 for their cheapest shipping, would be $134.10 for Felghana alone.  And as I mentioned earlier, I saw Ys I and II go on ebay for $62 + shipping.

(Though, I guess it didn't work out for the seller, as I got an email offer later for $52.  Didn't take him up on it, looks like he relisted it, back at what it was before, $20 starting bid, +11 shipping, ending in 14 hours)

Hmm, actually...  It seems he's sold it more than once.  Quite a few times it seems.  Hmm.  And his feedback is 'private'.  OK, this seems fishy now.  I'm actually glad I didn't win it after this now.   OK, and the auction I bidded in - he left feedback for the buyer, A+.  So, obviously he was paid for it.  OK, I definitely think something is up.  In the last 30 days, he's sold the game seven times.    I highly doubt he has that many copies around - especially from someone whose other listings are college textbooks.

OK, back to topic on hand, I'm looking forward to the games.  Besides playing those, I intend to give Ys VI another playthrough fairly soon.

Okay, I emailed them.  Lets see how it turns out.

One site said to put the price from the site in the email and the total, so I did that just in case.  I just copied it from the shopping cart page:

7,960円

and 3,960円 as well, since I ordered Ys: I & II as well - I tried to get it on eBay, but the whole ONE listing they had, ended up getting bid up to $62, +$11 shipping.  It'll be much cheaper this way.

Here's hoping it turns out okay. =)

EDIT:  Ok, they sent an email back, with the shipping figures and all.  Shipping was 4700 yen.  Sent an email back to them to confirm the order.

Thanks a bunch.  My computer is more than capable to handle it - I figured it would be.  Just wanted to make sure.

As for the soundtracks - with EIGHT music discs, you'd figure that some would be the OST, right?

Well, I'm still sort of deciding - probably going to get the limited edition with all the soundtracks, since I'm sure I'll listen to them, eventually.

Thanks again for the help.

I really want to buy this, in preparation for the upcoming patch, and just because it looks like such a great game - I loved Ys VI, and all reports I've seen, this game is even better than Ark of Napishtim.  Besides, I'm also one of the few people who played Wanderers from Ys, on SNES, and *liked* the game.  I liked it enough that I bought that back in the day.  Sure, it might not have been as good by Ys standards, but it was an enjoyable sidescroller, which could get a bit difficult at times.

So, I have more than one reason to be excited about this game. =)

Just, I haven't really imported much before (err, I think the extent is a soundtrack I got off eBay, which doesn't really count for much).   I don't know all the usual import sites, but the ones I've found, either don't have it in stock, or want quite a bit of money.  One, wants $109, + $24 for shipping.  Looks like the deluxe box.

I'm hoping to find a bit cheaper.  So far, the best I've seen would probably be to order direct from Falcom.  I've seem a few things on how to order from them.

On their site - it appears to have what I'm assuming is the deluxe set, with all the soundtrack stuff for, 7960円 (I'm assuming Yen), for either the DVD or CD version of the game.  While, the cheaper version (which I assume is just the game, available as DVD only), is listed for 5600円.    Doing a currency conversion, that'd be $69.83 for the more expensive listing.    The page before you go into the shopping cart lists slightly higher prices, 8560 and 6510 respectively.  (I know it's probably best to order via email, considering I can't understand a lick of the japanese on the web pages, if it's even possible to order for the US through there)

So, this seems to be significantly cheaper than ordering through the import sites that I found, although I'm unsure of what shipping would be.

I figure this is probably the best place to ask these things, I'd like to make sure of everything before I try to order this, so I know I'm getting what I think I'm getting, etc...

Err, I thought I saw it a long while back somewhere, but I can't seem to find it now, so I'll ask while I am here, what are the system requirements for the game?  I'm pretty sure my computer will be able to run it, but just want to be safe. =P

If this computer won't run it, I do have access to another, stronger computer in my house, though it is currently without a working DVD drive (bah, it died), so I would have to order the CD version then, as it at least does have a working CDR drive.   Which I might do anyway, since I assume if I order the DVD version, there's no way to split it up among CDs, so it can be installed on the other computer?  Or would it be too much to think that they'd put the DVD version together with folders "Disc 1"  "Disc 2" etc...  =P

Thanks for any help you can offer.  Even if I don't place the order right away, I plan on getting the game sooner or later.  I'm sure I'll enjoy it, even if the patch is still a ways off - knowing the original games progression would probably help a lot in figuring stuff out in this game.   Of course, the whole thing would be unnecessary if Konami would be nice and port/localize this one since they did Napishtim.

Yikes, ended up rambling a bit up there didn't I?  =P
