I think that will make people leak the patch even more. I think what NW is doing right now is great.

I don't think Ron Paul is "hip" or any, but he is the only conservative candidate that is willing to tell the truth. (well there's one in the democratic side, gravel) While his ideas are a bit radical, like scrapping social security and going back to the gold standard to back the greenback, his non-interventionist ideals is his most popular asset. When was voting about which side will win? Even if a candidate doesn't win I still believe he deserve my vote.

On a side note, chances are Romney is going to win the Republican nominee because Giulianni won't win. As much as I hate to say it, the republican party will vote for a protestant over a catholic candidate.

I agreed with most of the things he voted for except for the recent Gun Control which he was the ONLY representative that voted against. >_> I know he doesn't really stand a chance as a republican candidate, but if he DOES get the spot, I think he might be the most likely to beat the Democrats since his stands are some what similar so he should be able to steal votes. However if he isn't the republican candidate, then I don't see how republicans can win in the next election because all of the republican candidates (aside from Ron Paul) are pro-war when a super majority of America is against it.

while we're at it, if you replace a save file with another, is it possible to keep your previous save files? cause it seems like all the save files are packed into one file and there's no way for you to delete anyone that you don't like.

I don't know about you guys but I don't like to move on to another game until I have completely beaten the ones I have at that moment. This includes all the difficulties available. So by the time everyone beat the Inferno mode then it'll probably be time for the next Ys game. Then again, constantly playing the same game over and over can make you get sick of it.

Note that there are actually more Democrats than Republicans in America but in general, Republicans just vote more.

Oh, while we're at it, here's the secret right before the big exam, midterm, whatever:  A can of Coke or Cafe Mocha to drink down a Snickers bar... It works like a charm, everytime!

Having caffeine and sugar rush at the same time WOULD help you analyze and recall things better but if you had nothing in you to begin with it means nothing. So in the end you still have to learn your stuff first. While we're at it, I think it really depends on the person we're talking about. Like my first year roommate was this hindi guy who would just game all day non-stop. He would skip classes to sleep in for those morning classes and then learn the stuff later while doing homework. But the thing was, he still pulled off As. And I was like "dude, that's so not cool man." And here I was just studying an hour or two each day (I admit it's not a lot, but it's a habit you have to keep up) and barely got B's. I would say certain people requires different studying environments. Some people need to be quiet while studying, others need music to study or else they get bored. I guess it varies from peopel to people.

Eh, my advice, don't be playing or thinking about video games during your college days. That's your make or break period, and you don't need distractions.

upper division I understand, but lower division also? come on man, almost everyone I knew just gamed non-stop when they were in lower-div. Now upper division is a different story.

Ys: The Oath In Felghana / Re: Typo

You know how in the end when Elena is talking to Adol by the dock, she said the following line:

That... that's my oath that I swear to him.

My question is, shouldn't it be swore? Since she swore the oath in the past (with reference to their current conversation). I could be wrong on this, and if so do tell.

I was just going over my time attacks and I wanted to compare it to the record holder's times but I don't know where to start. I know that usually, japanese gamers are more hardcore than american gamers for console games so I thought I should start from the Japanese sites. But since I don't know any japanese I don't know where to start. Does anyone know? I think I'm looking for time attack records for Ys - I, II, Oath, Ark and Origin for all difficulties.

Ys: The Oath In Felghana / Re: Ys: The Oath in Felghana Translation
« on: Jan. 23, 2007, 08:41:18 PM »
^^ yeah, that's why I took french instead of spanish back in highschool but I regret it because there's like very little to no usage for it. Where as you can actually find a growing population of latinos in america (well southwestern states anyway). But I would've taken Japanese over anything else if that was offered. For some reason, Japanese just sounds a bit strange yet unique at the same time...

Oh yes, Psycho DeuceBag, where did you learn the Japanese you currently use/speak/etc. Was it self taught?

Hopefully there will still be something released in 2007 following the trend of:

2004 - Ys I
2005 - Ys II
2006 - Ys F
2007 - Ys ?

A side note:

Nightwolve, if you don't mind me asking, were you by any chance a computer science/engineering major? If not, where did you go to learn about all the stuff for programming and computer related issues? Just curious.

^^ I thought he said he was going to do legend of heroes 6 - I

so personally, i think someone else should do it and not load all the work to nightwolve all the time. This way, you can get to play it sooner.

Is there really anyone else with his level of knowledge/expertise, and his attention to detail concerning the Ys games?

I guess what I'm asking is that is there anyone else out there that could do it and do it right like we know he can?

I'm not saying Psycho DeuceBag and nightwolve can't translate it or anything but even if there's no one on par with them, having someone with 90% of their skills is good enough I think

Ys: The Oath In Felghana / Re: Ys: The Oath in Felghana Translation
« on: Jan. 17, 2007, 06:28:14 PM »
I was just wondering, you know how Psycho DeuceBag and Nightwolve translated the games into english right. But let's say someone wants to use this english translation and translate it to some other european language (which would definitely be easier), would they have to give credit to Psycho DeuceBag and Nightwolve? I mean, I know the translation isn't copyrighted, but wouldn't that make people neglect these things?

22
^^ why didn't get Ys Origin while you're at it?

Also, in the play-asia site, it says that YsOoF is out of print? Is this true? Or are they just saying that because they're out of stock?

Its not... I think he is just saying that is would be pretty rad if that was released on top of Origin and the Felghana patch.

It is!

Life always leads to more opportunistic events !!!

25
wait where is this english patch coming from?

26
^^ that game is rigged man, there's no way anyone can beat hard mode unless they're professionals

27
hmm... could it be that Nightwolve is busy with christmas shopping?

*strokes beard
young man, come sit over Santa's lap and tell Santa what you want for christmas! ho ho ho!

Maybe this way, WE can ALL get our desired christmas presents.

Ys Origin / Re: Ys Origin

or they could just throw in adol as a bonus character. Of course it would have no connection to the story, so it might be something that's like a "what if" scenarios in metal gear solid 2: substance. From a programming point of view, it wouldn't be that hard to put an existing character (either adol from Ys IV or VI) in a similar engine. Heck I bet it's even easier than designing a completely new playable character. But the problem is that Adol's moves might seem a bit similar to the combat fighter in this game.

29
^^ nah, i'm not trying to raise an arguement, I just don't like how Nightwolve is being expected to release anything at all and us fans want nothing less than a complete version. Personally, after playing poor translated games since the snes era I find that it's a god send just to be able to anything translated. some of you may remember how hard it is to come by them in the past. And with the recent trends, translators are just leaving one after another....

30
what do you think is the lowest level to complete both games? If that doesn't add difficulties, i don't know what will.

31
"the last thing i want is a translation patch to look half-assed"

Yeah the LAST THING i would want as in the worst case senario, if they did drop it and released what they had done, i would be happy but thats the LAST THING i would want to happen. Understand where i'm comming from?

Does the end always justify the mean for you? Just because there's no complete version doesn't mean you can't be satisfy with it. Personally I doubt there's anything as a complete version since there's probably going to be patches (provided he does release them) for bugs, grammar, etc. But just because something ISN'T finish doesn't mean it's not good enough. Let's say Nightwolve drops the project tomorrow (hopefully not), would that make all his hardwork go to waste? Of course not, and infact I think people can still enjoy it in it's own right. So instead of some exponential curve where your satisfaction suddenly shots up to infinite once the project is done, think of it as a linear curve that yields appropriate satisfaction.

32
^^ well a half-ass translation is still better than nothing. Take dragon quest VI and Star Ocean for SNES for example. Both of them are incomplete and both of them probably won't ever be complete because the two teams that worked on it disbanded. But can you say that this is the "LAST THING" you would want? of course not.

If Nightwolve were to drop his project tomorrow and just release whatever he has, I think a lot of people would still be happy.

33
Yes, i've also gotten to hard mode lvl 5 but that last boss kept killing me. I think you had to type 2 parallel letters per tick on that one...

I've noticed a bug/typo... Let's say you started playing on easy so when you beat it you'll go to normal mode and when you beat that you'll go to hard mode. But the porblem is that when you're in normal and hard mode and you just cleared a stage, the screen will still show that it's on easy difficulty. Unless easy mode gets more and more difficult, i doubt this is normal.

Also, I was wondering why this program requires so much ram out of your system? When i run it it takes like 50% of cpu to run it....

34
First boss of Ys I while attempting a low level game on easy... you can't even harm him at lvl 1....

well with the release of wii where you get points to download classic games... it kinda defeat the point of emulation. Or it could be that the recent release of wii and ps3 turning people's attention else where. I think it'll probably die down soon.

I like ranzor's explanation about feena and reah's clothing. Intuitively, I thought that people dress according to their surrounding tastes. For example, would you want to dress in high-class victorian age clothing in modern day society? of course not right, because it just wouldn't allow you to fit in. This is the same for the goddesses. Yes, they had nice clothing back then but that was when that society deemed it necessary.
