Dare I say it, I think it's going to be one of the most professional videogame fan translation patches in history! I'm still very impressed with how much it has advanced since I began. I mean seriously, this is separating the men from the boys type of work in my humble opinion...

If you look back at how I started out with the Ys I Complete patch (which employed a shitty batch file), you'd be that much more in awe of today's level of advancement. I think what I look at in awe as far as the installer goes is the plugin I made for NSIS to extract the DDS images. Looking at all the VC++ code I wrote to do that, it's just like, "WOW, that is pretty damn badass dude!"

See, originally with Ys I Complete, I would include all the edited images, but as I evolved in my strategy with future projects and since I wanted to keep the patch size down, I looked for ways to exploit the fact that you have the library right there as you're installing, so duh, I shouldn't be including every edited image; I should just include small patches for each one and have the installer extract the original from the library files that will already be there, yadda yadda. (The YsF patch would be about 12 Megs if I had to include every edited image.)

So yeah, that gives you an idea of what went on to get here. NSIS was pretty good with its plugin system allowing you to create components in VC++ to perform tasks you can't do using it. I don't remember if Installshield 5.5 had that ability back when I was using it.
