Ys II Complete is a DirectX5 based game for Windows 98/ME/2K/XP that was released
by Falcom on 6/28/2001, at least, in its first
"Limited Edition" form where it was packaged together with Ys I Complete also.
This game is actually a slight remake of Ys II ETERNAL, a prior release from 7/6/2000.
The "COMPLETE" version was created by recycling the "ETERNAL" version with updated
graphics, sounds, etc. and repackaging it under the "COMPLETE" label to sell again.
If there's anything you can count on from Falcom, it's Ys rehashes. But I guess
that's why we love them, eh??
The story doesn't stop there, though. Later on 7/26/2002, Falcom released Ys
I Complete [XP] and Ys II Complete [XP] as separate packages, unlike the
"Limited Edition" which combined Ys I&II Complete as one game, where beating Ys
I immediately launches Ys II to seamlessly continue your quest. This mimics the
behavior of the beloved Ys Book I&II for the PC-Engine/TG-CD system. Anyway, as
if that wasn't enough, on 12/23/2005 Falcom released Ys I&II Complete recombined
once again, as it was for the "Limited Edition," so that makes three different
packages this game is available in... (Purchasing of the current "Popular Edition"
is possible either directly from Falcom, or Himeya
Shop, an online import retailer.)
So anyway, I started this translation project 'round early July, of 2002. Tenchi-no-ryu (Stephen Harris)
from RPGFAN had introduced me to rare
Japanese imported games such as this that I knew nothing of at the time. I was
very impressed at these gems, to be sure. Certainly, Ys I&II Complete held a
special charm with me - I loved the series after having had the joy of
experiencing Ys Book I&II on my TurboDuo system a decade ago... Imagine my
surprise after seeing it on the PC with updated graphics, higher resolution, etc.
Now, since I had already been influenced by the romhacking scene and was pursuing
the Xak III project, I boldly decided to expand my platform reach to the
PC...WITH AUTHORITY!!!! Thus, I utilized my talent on loan from God and voila!
Arguably, one of the best fan translation patches is now available for your
downloading pleasure... Nice story to tell the kids one day.

Ys II Complete Project Progress as of Version 1.02:

100%
Script Strings (6254/6254):
100%
EXE Strings (573/573):
100%
Assembly Hacking:
100%
NSIS Patcher (v2.22):
100% (New GUI-based)
Version 1.02 (1/5/2007):
1-2 minor script corrections thanks to Agent_K64 & wyrdwad, and a rare
untranslated string was fixed thanks to ranzor & zaratus.
Removed the last vestiges of "YS ETERNAL" in favor of "YS COMPLETE" for
the title screen and ending, all thanks to johnnybleu, who recently came
onboard the team to help out starting with the Felghana project.
If you bought the new Ys I&II Complete bundle from Falcom recently and
received a "Version 1.2.4.0 is unknown... This patch cannot help you..."
error message preventing you from patching, that has now been fixed. You no
longer need to use the "YsII(US)HotFixV100.exe" file I released a while back
as a temporary measure to get passed this error.
The AVI link for our translated opening video was updated. The old link was
broken after the site that hosted it was shut down. Unfortunately, as a
result, the patcher would delete your original AVI, leaving it at size zero.
This would result in crashes when starting a new game. Needless to say, that
behavior was altered. The patcher will make sure it has completely
downloaded the new AVI by checking its file size, and it'll rename the old
AVI to something else to save it. Also, it'll check my server to see if
there's an updated link available should the current one compiled within the
patch fail.
Added version checking. The patcher will check the server for newer versions
and prompt you to download if present. Won't be terribly useful as I don't
expect very many updates after this, but you never know. In the quest for
perfection to "COMPLETE" the Ys experience, there's no reason to rule out
any worthwhile future updates. ;)
Added a RTF ReadMe file that's viewable within the patcher pre-installation.
Removed all references to the now defunct RIGG/"Retro ISO Gaming Guild" in
the game's ending and in the ReadMe.
Recompiled installation script with the latest NSIS 2.22 version.

WHY would @XSEEDGames insult me by calling me "Hitler" when I would NEVER call them "Stalinists?" Oh well, I try so hard to be their friend - and maybe someday that will happen! twitter.com/realDona
Just got blocked by @XSEEDGames on Twitter a second ago.. I just wanted to express glee to the jerks for having kept their divisive, poisonous, criminal hands off of the new Ys VIII title & Gurumin, well, they had no choice, NISA poached everything out from under them! Live by the sword, perish by it... It took another ruthless ugly competitor to bring them to justice by taking the Ys series away, that sweet Falcom partnership, which they NEVER deserved!
Psycho Kirsten "omgfloofy" Miller called me a "f@gg0t" on Reddit by proxy with an animated meme! In a recent exchange, she spammed me with this: https://imgur.com/wA Who is Kirsten ? She did work for X.X.XSEED on Ys Celceta and is credited in the Special Thanks section... Don't they get more embarrassing the more you learn ? In the aftermath of the terrorist attack at the Pulse nightclub where 50 people were executed, does dropping "f@gg0t" still fly in so a nonchalant fashion ? Source Link.
Is XSEED [Lame] "Games" waging a "war on women," specifically "little women" ? Do they pander to animated ped0philia-loving perverts ? Man, these headlines write themselves! Hah! Attaboy Tom, thanks for the lulz at least in the midst of all your criminality!
It's been 11 years since I managed a new PC Engine project, but I have indeed returned to the retro console platform I first started the ole fan translation gig with! Finally took the time to mention it here, >> Emerald Dragon <<.
1) Kinda funny, but Ken Berry, Director of Publishing of XSEED Games, did a Facebook block on me some time back... Heh-heh. Guess I should feel honored! That's in addition to Thomas "WyrdWad" Lipschultz of course after I sent him a PM. 2) OK, REALLY LOLOLOL FUNNY, X.X.XSEED Games is under fire by HuffingtonPuffington for what "may be one of the most despicable video games of all time!!!" HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Lipschultz is on the Comments section defending his two-bit, perv, criminal cheat of a company against the author of the blog article to boot, so is even the X.X.XSEED Cock-Flasher, it's a full-on freakshow! More of my thoughts here! Oh lordy, the delicious irony and glee here, I can't contain expressing it!
